The true ‘Terex Titan’ (below) is the namesake of the ‘Terex Titan’ redwood tree. This 3,200-hp diesel-over-electric powered mammoth heavy-duty dump truck was manufactured in the late 1970’s and used to transport ore at the Eagle Mountain iron-ore mining operations east of Los Angeles. To this day, at 25’ wide and with a gross capacity of over 1,000,000-lb, it’s still the largest such truck ever built in the world.

The likewise mammoth heavy-duty service truck (below), was nicknamed ‘At Your Service, Terex’.
This 12’ wide truck, with 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel, 15 electric-powered pumps & 15 service hose-reels, provided on-site fuel, oils, lubricants and other products to service the ‘Terex Titan’. It was designed and built by Redwood-Ed’s manufacturing company, DSC Diamond-Bilt, in a 1979 joint effort with Kenworth, a truck-chassis manufacturer. It was later featured in an issue of the world-wide ‘Mining and Processing Equipment’ publication, with pictures and a full-page article. That’s ‘Ed’ on the right.
